The European Investment Bank (EIB) granted a loan Cantabria 75 million euros to fund eight global educational projects whose investment amounts to 150 million, thanks to a collaboration agreement signed today between the EIB and the Cantabrian Executive.
These include projects "far-reaching," as the rehabilitation of the major seminary at the Pontifical University, the future headquarters of the Fundacion Comillas. This is, sto credits, a work that is "in full development" (already opened a part) and involves an investment of 70 million euros as a whole.
38 million were also allocated to the rehabilitation of the minor seminary and the Maximum Building Pontificia de Comillas, which housed the United World College, and funded the construction of the new headquarters of, tera gold, the Fundacion Albeniz in Santander, which requires 18 million euros (project to which the very foundation dedicated 8 million).
Besides these projects, will construct and expand facilities, Primary and Secondary Education of the Community. Thus, a public school will be built Nursery and Primary Valdenoja (Santander), which has a budget of more than 5.4 million euros,, sto credits, and another in Puente San Miguel, which was earmarked 5.7 million.
Also the extension of the public school Manuel Cacicedo of Corban (Santander), whose works totaling 1.7 million, and the Mata de Linares, in San Vicente de la Barquera, which requires more than 1.1 million. Also, the expansion will be undertaken at the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) Manuel Gutierrez Aragon in Viernoles (Torrelavega), whose budget is 1.9 million.

Noting that only with the "resources" of the government these projects "take longer" because the context of current crisis, Gorostiaga prominence, thanks to financing from the EIB, these initiatives "will soon be a reality."
He explained that the works are well advanced. In fact, the colleges will be operational by next academic year, except the Puente San Miguel, which will be operational in the next.
Also emphasized is the "first time" that the EIB granted a loan to the Community, and that funding is the maximum amount to which the entity is authorized, which demonstrates Gorostiaga opinion of the "interest" and "importance" projects.
In the same line, I stress that the proposals to be financed by the EIB must pass a "comprehensive control" of viability and meet the criteria for Bank financing, among which include projects to be "viable" from the point of technical, economic and environmental.
Terms interesting

On projects to finance, the EIB Vice highlights both "quality" as its "sustainability" financial. He also praised the collaboration established with Cantabria and the "peace" posed to the Bank because, he said, the managementCommunity financial "very good".
Da Silva believes that with the financing of these projects are working for the "future" while you take care of "past", as it will help preserve some buildings of cultural heritage in a region where tourism is " very important. "
